We help create brighter futures for children and families
Every child in Victoria has a right to be safe
The Victorian Commission for Children and Young People is a fearless advocate for recognising, respecting and defending the rights of children and young people. Its agenda and aspirations are ambitious, yet the financial constraints are very real. Over time, Rapid Impact has supported the organisation to set priorities and implementation plans that shine a light on, and change, those systems and practices that harm children.
Permanence and stability: The missing ingredients for Victoria’s most vulnerable children
Those children who cannot live permanently with their birth family deserve to thrive in a strong, stable, and permanent family. Rapid Impact was commissioned to review the current state of ‘permanency’ in Victoria, and the latest research on the support required for children and their carers to recover from the trauma experienced through multiple placements. Rapid impact worked with the Permanent Care and Adoptive Families to unpack the issues and understand why permanency legislation has not gained the traction that was intended. The findings and recommendations chart the urgency for action on multiple fronts.
Opening the doors for the first family violence hubs
Bringing the vision to life to establish Victoria’s first family violence support and safety hubs was complex and a race against time. With limited notice, Rapid Impact was asked to facilitate the on the ground training of the workforce for two of the metropolitan and regional hubs. A key requirement was to draw together the threads from the subject-matter experts, discuss the practicalities for the operating model when the doors opened, and to start to create the much-needed trust and shared culture amongst the diversity of agencies engaged to co-deliver the new intake model.
