The first three months of any new strategy cycle is a ‘make or break’ time. You’ve done the hard work of creating and testing your new business plan. You’ve built the commitment in your team through intense hours of workshops and meetings. Now it’s time to implement the plan. Here’s the catch: Unless you break through the inertia of old ways of working, you’ll hobble into the next business cycle with a fresh direction but last year’s behavior.
Our approach breaks the patterns of old. We work with you to make an active connection between your new strategy, how it is implemented, and the value you seek. There are four ways this connection is created:
> A new way of reporting on strategic progress that takes significantly less time and effort. It frees up resources to do the day-to-day work of implementing strategy
> A clear, fact-base to describe strategic progress. You’ll be able to see at a glance where outcomes can be celebrated, and where effort needs to be focused to improve performance
> A concise list of KPIs and targets that cascades the strategy through the organisation so every manager and team is absolutely clear where they should focus their energy and how their performance will be judged
> A leadership team who are confident and competent to discuss the right performance issues and not be sidetracked by noise in the system. They will be able to rely on the reporting system for information on who and what should be rewarded to accelerate progress.

Here is what it takes: three months, three reporting cycles, three tasks for your leadership team. With our help, you and your leadership team will make it a priority to establish a strong connection between your strategy and the value it delivers. Easier, faster, more positive! That’s our promise.
These are the three tasks for the leadership team:
1. Prepare strategy reports, on time, using our cloud-based tool
2. Attend a strategy review session each month
3. Commit to a one-on-one conversation with the CEO each month about performance in their areas of strategic accountability.
1. We’ll give you hands-on, personalized support to complete your reports each month with our cloud-based reporting tool
2. We’ll lead your first three strategy review sessions, helping the team identify and address any uncertainty about strategic direction and measurement
3. We’ll support each leader with a one-on-one preparation session each month to make sure everyone is comfortable with the new strategic reporting approach and can use it for positive conversations about progress with each other and their own teams.
DELIVERY OF OUTCOMES
At the end of the three month cycle, your leadership team will have a proven set of strategic levers to deliver value for your organisation. You’ll be confident about using those levers in positive conversations for change with your teams. Your reporting system will reflect your priorities and progress towards your goals. You will be able to rely on your reporting system to tell you who and what should be rewarded to accelerate progress. Month by month, the Strategy2Value approach builds towards these outcomes.
> Strategy integrated and completed: We integrate into a single template all actions, accountabilities and timeframes to deliver each of your agreed strategies.
> Strategy uploaded: We upload your strategy into Envisio. It is software specifically designed to track performance against strategy. With a click you can view a report on a particular individual, an area, a strand of the strategy, or produce a summary of the performance of the whole strategy.
> Leaders familiar with the online tool for reporting.
> First report completed against new metrics.
> Leadership team has extracted relevant information on strategic progress using the online tool and checked that this information is accurate and meaningful.
> Second report delivered.
> Levers of performance analysed. The leadership team has confirmed that reporting data is consistent, relevant and complete for them to deliver the committed value outcomes (or identifies and actions any shortfall for their needs).
> Leadership team is equipped to improve report quality and performance issues
> Third report delivered
> Levers of performance applied. The leadership team has confirmed key patterns and uses of reporting data for positive conversations that drive organizational change
> Leadership team has refreshed its focus, format and tools for conducting meetings and individual conversations about performance.
Our fees are based on the level of support that each leadership team requires.
Some clients need support to get their fact-base and strategy documents complete for the pre-work step. This could be as simple as fine tuning the content of a strategy document or as substantial as developing a new strategy from scratch. We will be guided by our initial conversations with you in scoping and estimating the days required for this task.
We provide dedicated consultants for the activities outlined in the three month Strategy2Value implementation cycle. Typically this investment is made on a fixed-fee basis. The cycle includes:
> Strategy pre-work
> First Month Workshop, with one-on-one preparation sessions
> Second Month Workshop, with one-on-one preparation sessions
> Third Month Workshop, with one-on-one preparation sessions.
Some clients need support to address capability gaps in the leadership team during the Strategy2Value cycle. For example, clients have requested additional one-on-one coaching, assistance with staff performance management systems, guidance on issues with accuracy and relevance of performance data and additional research and evaluation of unforeseen strategic opportunities that emerge during the implementation phase. We will be guided by our conversations with you in scoping and estimating any additional days and expertise required.
Software Licence & Set Up
The Strategy2Value approach requires an annual subscription to the online reporting tool, Envisio. The current fee is $5,000 per year, per organisation. For the first implementation cycle, the fee includes these benefits:
> Creation of the reporting shell
> Input of initial strategy and metrics, plus regular updates as the strategy is finalised
> Unlimited users
> Workshop-based training for leadership team members and one in-house ‘super user’
> Help desk and online support for all users.
